Ruby Louise Sims passed away on Nov 23, 2018 in Sacra­mento, CA. Ruby was born on July 7, 1938 in Ma­con, GA to Char­lie and Fan­nie Sims. Af­ter earn­ing a de­gree in Math­e­mat­ics and mi­nor in Chem­istry from Sa­van­nah State Univer­sity in Geor­gia, she taught high school math in Ma­con. Ruby moved to Sacra­mento in 1966. She worked for the State of CA for 28 years as a Pro­gram­mer An­a­lyst for the Dept of En­ergy and Cal­trans, re­tir­ing in 1996. Ruby loved gar­den­ing, trav­el­ling, and cook­ing. Ruby is sur­vived by her brother, Ben­jamin Sims; nephew, Michael Sims; niece, Sh­eryl Sims-Schus­ter; great­nieces Nicole Sims and Shan­non Schus­ter; and great-nephew Thomas Schus­ter. Ruby was pre­ceded in death by her par­ents and sis­ter-in-law, Irene E. Mid­dle­brooks-Hightower. The fam­ily thanks the staff at Brook­dale Citrus Heights Se­nior Liv­ing for their won­der­ful care for the past 7 years. Visi­ta­tion is sched­uled 2-6pm on Dec 10 at Thomp­son Rose Chapel, 3601 5th Ave. Fu­neral will take place on Dec 11 at 11am at Shiloh Bap­tist Church, 3565 9th Ave. Ruby will be in­terred in Forsyth, GA.
