Ruud jolts Tsitsipas in Barcelona final

-

Third-seeded Casper Ruud exacted revenge against fifth-seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas by posting a 7-5, 6-3 win on Sunday in the finals of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell in Spain.

It was a rematch of the finals last week, won by Tsitsipas for his third Rolex Monte Carlo Masters in four years and 11th career victory on tour.

Ruud of Norway, who is ranked sixth in the world, captured his first ATP Tour title of the season in 90 minutes after converting three of six break points.

Tsitsipas of Greece, ranked seventh in the world, fired three aces but was undone by four double faults.

Tiriac Open: Hungary’s Marton Fucsovics recorded his second ATP Tour title and first since 2018 after posting a 6-4, 7-5 win over fifth-seeded Mariano Navone in Bucharest, Romania.

Fucsovic overcame six double faults by converting five of eight break points to topple Navone in two hours and six minutes.

Fucsovics got off to a fast start by winning the first four games of the opening set before Navone responded to forge a 4-4 tie. The Argentine, who was bidding for his first ATP Tour title, sent a pair of forehands wide en route to losing the set and saw a final shot go long to conclude the match. BMW Open: Fourth-seeded Jan-Lennard Struff collected his first ATP Tour title following a 7-5, 6-3 win over third-seeded Taylor Fritz of the United States in Munich.

Struff, the 33-year-old German, improved to 1-4 in tour-level finals after dispatching Fritz in 79 minutes.
