FAYETTEVILLE — After starting the Chad Wolff Classic 3-0, the Bryant Junior Black Sox would fall 3-2 to Prodigy Prospect on Saturday, but would come back to defeat OKC Sandlot 16U 6-1 on Sunday to claim the Wolff championship at Baum-walker Stadium in Fayetteville.

Blaine Sears pitched an excellent game on Sunday, giving up just the one run on six hits and no walks, striking out eight in a complete seven innings for the win.

A scoreless game after two innings, the Black Sox (16-3) would get on the board in the top of the third. Lawson Speer walked to start and went to second on Noah Davis’ sacrifice bunt. After a Peyton Dillon lineout, Ryan Riggs put the Black Sox on the board with a two-out double to left field to plate Speer for the 1-0 lead.

JT Parker singled to put runners on the corners before Will Hathcote singled in courtesy runner Hayden Thompson for the 2-0 lead after three.

Bryant scored on an error in the fourth to go up 3-0 before Sandlot scored its

lone run in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI ground out to make it 3-1, but Sears would strike the next man out to get out of the inning without further damage.

The Jr. Sox would be helped by walks in the top of the seventh. After Sandlot struck out the first two batters, three consecutive walks ensued to load the bases for Davis, who unloaded them with a 3-run triple for the 6-1 final. Sears set Sandlot down in order in the bottom of the inning to claim victory.

Riggs finished 3 for 4 with an RBI, Speer was 2 for 3 with three runs, Davis 1 for 4 with three RBIS and Hathcote was 1 for 4 with an RBI. Dillon, Parker, Tyler Bates and Dakota Clay all added a hit each in the win.
