LITTLE ROCK – The Bryant girls and boys soccer teams split in 6A Central Conference action this past Tuesday, with the Lady Hornets edging the Central Lady Tigers 1-0 while the Hornets fell 1-0 to the Tigers.

For the Lady Hornets (4-0-2, 2-0-1 Central),

Ashton Inman scored the lone goal of the game, a penalty kick with 16:11 left to go in the match. Goalkeep Addison Funk picked up six saves on the day for the shutout.

“Overall we possessed very well and played more of the style of play that we wanted,” Bryant Coach Olivia Allard said. “We still have to work on finishing in the final third.

“Our defense (Hannah Brewer, Abbey Inman, Katie

Sucher, Jillian Colclasure) played exceptionally well Tuesday night and helped generate a lot of opportunities for us. We had 12 shots on goal from seven different players, but just couldn’t get them in the back of the net.”

The Hornets (1-3-3, 1-2) dropped a 1-0 decision to the Tigers.

“At times the ball movement was good,” Bryant boys coach Rick Friday said, “but as a team we were too inconsistent through the 80 minutes. We came in with over-inflated egos from the win and didn’t start wonderful, but grew into the game.”

Bryant hosts Little Rock Southwest tonight with the girls kicking off at 5:30 p.m.
