Benton man arrested for Star City murder
According to a report from the Star City Police Department, Dawson Maples, 19, of Benton, has been arrested as a suspect in a July 4 murder that took place in Star City. The incident, which resulted in the death of Christoph Vick, is still under investigation.
On the evening of July 4, Star City Police responded to a shooting in the Dollar General parking lot on S. Lincoln Ave., where they found Vick with several gunshot wounds.
“Responding officers located Christoph Vick lying face up with what appeared to be several gunshot wounds to his upper body,” the report said.
Vick was immediately transported to the local Jefferson Regional Medical Center, but later died. Two suspects were identified, with another still at large.
The first suspect, William Pearson, was found in Star City on July 6, where he is initially being charged with attempted aggravated robbery. He is being held at the Lincoln County Jail.
The second suspect, Maples, was located by
Star City Police with the assistance of the Little
Rock Police Department at O’reilly’s Auto Parts in Little Rock on July 7. The Benton Police Department later assisted Star City Police in locating Maples’ vehicle in Benton. Maples bonded out on July 8 for $75,000.
“Maples was brought back to the Lincoln County Jail initially charged with murder 1st degree, delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful use of a communication device, and tampering with physical evidence,” according to the report.
