Bryant takes win over Sheridan to open season
LITTLE ROCK – Officially opening the season at the Rebsamen Tennis Center in Little Rock, the Bryant girls and boys tennis teams would edge Sheridan on Tuesday. The Lady Hornets swept 3-0 with just one singles match while the Bryant boys finished 1-3 for the
4-3 overall win over the Yellowjackets.
That one singles player was senior Tya Brown, who downed Sheridan’s Olivia Jablonski 8-2 for the win. In junior varsity action, junior Taylor Henderson swept Blythe Mosely 6-0 and Bryant’s Laney Glymph also won her JV singles set.
In girls doubles action, sophomores Mckenzie Schuetzle and Kennedy Baker teamed up for an 8-5 win over Natalie Szeflinski and Courtney Mayberry. Bryant junior Riley Smith and Jenna Ward eased to an 8-1 win over Mayce Crouse and Lauren Appleget, while in JV play, junior Ella Howard and Mary Claire Harper shut out Riley Webb and Lily Kramer 8-0.
Sophomore Chase Morgan earned Bryant’s lone varsity win on Tuesday, downing Nick Cacciatori 8-3 in singles action, while freshman Gavin Crawford dropped an 8-2 decision to Sheridan’s Jett Spann. The Bryant JV boys also took some Ws with senior Nathan Montes beating Jared Berry and sophomore Dexter Singleton winning 6-2 over Bryce Jones.
In varsity doubles, freshmen Gresham Mosely and Nathan Bae fell 8-5 to Andrew Shaw and
Gage Hyatt, while sophomore Andrew Schlesier and freshman Easton Cunningham dropped 8-4 to Nathan Uptagrafft and Joel Petty. In JV, senior Koen Gilder and junior Jackson Glidden beat Shaw and Hyatt 6-3.
Bryant gets a couple weeks off before returning to 6A Central Conference play on Tuesday, Aug. 29, at Rebsamen.
