96th Battle of the Ravine set for Saturday
ARKADELPHIA –
One of the most unique rivalries in all of college sports is set for its 96th edition Saturday when the Henderson State Reddies literally walk across Highway 67 to take on the 10th-ranked Ouachita Baptist University Tigers at Cliff Harris Stadium.
Saturday’s kickoff is set for 1 p.m. General admission tickets will on sale for $8 starting at 8 a.m. at the stadium. Tickets purchased online will be
available at the will call booth. Ouachita students, faculty, and staff will be admitted free with their university ID. Henderson State students will also be admitted with their university ID. Children ages three and under are admitted free.
Parking in the stadium lot is by pass only. Firstcome, first-serve parking in the gravel lot immediately east of the stadium is $5.
The game can be heard on the Ouachita Football
Network on affiliate stations across the state of Arkansas. The Ouachita Sports Digital Network will broadcast the game live on Youtube for free. Links to live video, audio, and live statistics can be accessed at www. Obutigers.com/coverage.
Ouachita has won six straight over HSU in the Battle of the Ravine to hold a 46-43-6 lead in the all-time series heading into Saturday’s regular season finale.
The series began in 1895, and has been making national headlines ever since with nationallytelevised games, prank wars, last-minute gamewinning drives, goal-line stands, overtime thrillers, and standing room only crowds. Last year, Ouachita erased a 14-point deficit with just under five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter to force overtime and eventually beat the Reddies 40-37.
This year, the Tigers enter the game at 9-1, ranked 10th in the latest American Football Coaches Association Top 25 poll. Ouachita is coming off a 55-14 win over Oklahoma Baptist last Saturday at home.
The Reddies are 8-2 coming off back-to-back dominating shutouts over Northwestern Oklahoma State (51-0) and Southwestern Oklahoma
State (56-0).
Ouachita most likely needs to win this Saturday to earn a spot in the
NCAA Division II playoffs, which begin November
18. The Tigers are seeking their sixth playoff appearance. Ouachita moved up one spot to No. 6 in this week’s Super Region 3 rankings. The top seven will be selected this Sunday night for the playoffs.
