BRYANT -- The Bryant Hornets basketball squad has not lost a game in nearly three months, winning 25 straight since that time.

On Tuesday, the Hornets narrowly defeated Cabot at home in overtime 64-59, securing a 2.5-game lead on Little Rock Central in conference play.

Bryant is currently

10-0 against league opponents this season with two games remaining.

Cabot opened the contest on an 8-0 run in the first, throwing the Hornets momentum off for most of the opening half.

Cabot would lead 20-10 later in the first quarter.

A big three from Trent Ford in the second would cut Cabot’s lead to 24-21.

Down 30-29, a steal and a big block would start to build momentum back for the Hornets.

In the second half Bryant continued to fight. Trailing 50-47 in the forth, Ford would launch his biggest shot of the night, another three to tie things at 50-50.

The game would go to overtime where Bryant became too much to handle for the visiting Panthers.

Ford led Bryant with 23 points in the win, followed by RJ Young with 19 and RJ Newton with 12.

The rebounding battle would tilt in Cabot’s favor with 35 compared to Bryant’s 32.

The Hornets would win the assists fight, though, 15-9 and also blocked three shots and snatched nine steals in the win.

Bryant shot 41 percent from the field while allowing the Panthers to hit at a 45-percent clip.

From three, Bryant had a rough night overall, hitting only 18 percent while Cabot nailed 36 percent of the time.

The Hornets will travel to rival North Little Rock on Friday for more conference action. Bryant recently beat North Little Rock 64-53 on Jan. 23.

Opening tip is set for 7 p.m.
