Rema Bianco won the floor exercise, vaulting competitio­n and all-around event to lead Saratoga gymnastics past Shaker,

SARATOGA SPRINGS — Rema Bianco won the floor exercise, vaulting competitio­n and allaround event to help the Saratoga Springs gymnastics team defeat Shaker 173.5-149.55 on Thursday.

Bianco posted a 9.4 in the floor exercise, an 8.7 on the vault and a 35.15 in the all- around competitio­n.

Morgan Winnie was also instrument­al in the Blue Streaks’ victory. Winnie scored a 9.1 in the even bars and a 9.1 in the balance beam to win both events.

Saratoga improved to 20 on the season.

Wrestling

Schuylervi­lle 48, Cambridge 27 SCHUYLERVI­LLE — The Black Horses captured seven pins and improved to 8- 1 on the season after submitting Wasaren foe Cambridge 48-27.

The pinning barrage began at the 285- pound bout, as Harrison Procter, wrestling up from 220, pinned Cambridge’s Nathan Winchester in a minute and 22 seconds.

Following Procter, Schuylervi­lle’s lightweigh­ts made quick work of their opponents, earning three pins, each in 48 seconds or less.

The Black Horses’ Connor Hughes took care of Carter Couture in the 113pound match, pinning him in 48 seconds. After Hughes, 120- pounder Jimmy Giroux pinned Gabe Gegin in 43 seconds, as Jake Anderson finished off James Wilmot in just 32 seconds.

In the 145-pound match, Schuylervi­lle’s Tyler Green pinned Ryan Telaford in a minute and 2 seconds to put the Black Horses up 36-12 with five matches remaining.

On the losing end of a lopsided score with time running out, Cambridge did not simply roll over for Schuylervi­lle.

The Indians’ Eric Telford earned a 6-5 decision over Schuylervi­lle’s Victor Castro at 152, then Austin Dean and Zach Martin earned pins at 160and 170- pounds, making the score 36- 27 with two matches remaining.

Up nine, Schuylervi­lle’s 182- pounder Thomas Greeno closed the door on a possible Cambridge rally, pinning Colton Dean in a minute and 59 seconds to secure the Black Horses victory.

Schuylervi­lle’s Adam Stortz ended the match earning a win by pinfall against Patrick Scheuer in 57 seconds.

Schuylervi­lle is back in action Jan. 5 when they grapple in the Saratoga Springs Tournament.

Amsterdam 66, South Glens Falls 21 SOUTH GLENS FALLS — South Glens Falls’ Peter Demarco ( 195) pinned Amsterdam’s Chris Garrison in 1:03, but the Bulldogs came up short against Amsterdam. South Glens Falls also received win from Anthony Sgorrano ( 106), Matt Saville (120) and Spencer Kilburn ( 145). Sgorrano pinned his opponent in 2:24, while Saville won by pinfall and Kilburn won a 6-3 decision over his opponent.

Boys Basketball

Waterford 66, Berlin 44 WATERFORD — Troy Anderson tallied 29 points, including six three-pointers, to help Waterford down Berlin.

Josh Orton recorded 17 and Jared Gardner chipped in eight for the Fordians, which improved to 3-2 in league

play and 4- 5 overall.

Boys Bowling

Burnt Hills 24, Columbia 8 EAST GREENBUSH — Zach Nasters rolled a high series of 678, including a high game of 257, to propel Burnt Hills past Columbia. Anthony Ranere posted a series of 645 and bowled a single- game 235 for the Spartans, who knocked down 3681 pins as a team compared to 3441 for the Blue Devils.

Girls Bowling

Colonie 26, Saratoga Springs 6 COLONIE — Saratoga Springs’ Lauren Welch bowled a high series of 539, including a high game of 199, but the Blue Streaks fell to Colonie.

Abbi Gailor rolled a series of 529 and posted a single game total of 183, while Alyssa Pancake bowled a 507 for Saratoga.
