Jane A. Melander

Jane A. Melander, 55, passed away May 30, 2014, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Born January 5, 1959, in Dansville, New York, she was the daughter of Robert and Nancy Prentice. She was a graduate of Ellicottville High School.

After growing up in western New York, she eventually relocated to Ballston Spa, where she met and married the love of her life, Jeff Melander.

She was a certified nurse’s aide at Maplewood Manor in Ballston Spa for several years.

Jane enjoyed traveling with her husband and together they vacationed in Hawaii, Maine, Georgia and Cape Cod. Each winter they made their annual trip to Florida.

Jane is survived by her husband, Jeff Melander; her parents, Robert and Nancy Prentice; brothers, Donald Prentice (Pam), Kevin Prentice (Sandy) and Dean Prentice; sister, Joyce Telaak (David); mother-in-law, Linda Melander (Jack McLaren); and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 22, at Linda and Jack’s home at 477 Franklin St. in Ballston Spa
