Galway library vote slated for June 10

Galway Public Library will hold its annual budget vote from 1 to 8p.m. June 10at the library.

GALWAY>> Galway Public Library will hold its annual budget vote from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, at the library at 5264 Sacandaga Road.

Residents will vote on a proposed $143,650 spending plan.

Also, Mary Lynn Kopper and Frederick G. Baily are the candidates for library board seats. The board of trustees will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 5, at the library.

Several other meetings are planned in June:

• June 12 (7 p.m.) — Friends of the Library meeting at the Cock ‘n Bull Restaurant to prepare for the wine-tasting fundraiser at 7 p.m. June 17 at the restaurant.

• June 18 (6 p.m.) — Finance Committee meeting followed by the board workshop meeting at 7 p.m.

• June 21 (2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.) — Public meetings with the library’s architects at Galway Town Hall to discuss proposed building project.

The library is hosting several technology programs this month:

• June 4 (6 p.m.) — “Facebook Security”

• June 25 (6 p.m.) — “Getting into Windows 8”

• June 26 (6 p.m.) — “Intro to Facebook”

A number of adult programs are also scheduled:

• June 12 (6 p.m.) — “Writing and Selling Animated TV”

• June 19 (6 p.m.) — “Magazine Cartooning for Adults”

• June 23 (7 p.m.) — “When Readers Meet,” discussing “News from Heaven,” stories by Jennifer Haigh

• June 24 (7 p.m.) — Writers’ Group.

The library’s summer reading program begins in June, and the library will hold movies at Galway Village Park each Friday and Saturday at dusk in June. Children’s programs include “Preschool Storytime” every Tuesday at 10 a.m.; “Drawing for Kids” each Wednesday at 4 p.m.; “Folklore & Fairytales” June 2, 9, 16 and 23 at 12:30 p.m.; “Jackson Pollock Art” June 19 at 4 p,m.; and “Make A Telephone” June 30 at noon.
