Police announce results of DMB concert detail
SARATOGA SPRINGS >> Last weekend’s two-day run by the Dave Matthews Band at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center not only brought large crowds to the Spa City, but it also resulted in several dozen tickets issued and arrests made.
The Saratoga Springs Police Department issued 49 traffic tickets and made 16 arrests, the department announced Wednesday. City police worked with the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office for a collaborative approach to the two-day event. Both uniformed and plain-clothes officers were on-duty.
“Historically speaking, this band has a large following and the sheer volume has an effect on both the city and the surrounding towns, ”SSPD public information officer Lt. Robert Jillson said in a news release. “[The officers’] purpose was to enforce vehicle and traffic laws, as well as to take a pro-active stance against illegal narcotics that too often accompany the event.”
Police said the drugs encountered included marijuana, concentrated cannabis, MDMA (ecstasy), cocaine and heroin.
The following is a list of misdemeanor and felony arrests connected to the concert run made by the Saratoga Springs Police Department:
*Alexander Garfield, 23, of Pittsford, was arrested at6:30 p.m. May 31 on South Broadway and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, a unlawful possession of marijuana.
* Garret E. Stewart, 25, of Baldwinsville, was arrested at 6:30 p.m. May 31 on South Broadway and charged with two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, felonies, and seventh- and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanors.
* Jodi L. Donnahie, 45, of Malta was arrested at 2:14 p.m. May 30 on South Broadway and charged with thirddegree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor, and failure to notify the DMV of a change of address.
Arrests made by other involved police agencies were not made available Wednesday.
