Conboy back at nationalmeet
Saratoga grad qualifies for 3 events for William Smith
For the second-straight year, William Smith College senior Caroline Conboy will spend her spring break competing in the NCAA Division III Women’s Swimming and Diving National Championships.
The 2014 Saratoga Springs grad will travel to Shenandoah, Texas, March 15-18, to compete in three events.
“I’m excited to see what I can do at this meet,” Conboy said. “I don’t have any specific times or places in mind, but if I can hover around or improve the times I went at states I will be happy. The meet has gotten a lot faster every year.”
Conboy qualified for the national championship meet in the 100 and 200-yard breaststrokes and will have the opportunity to swim in the 200yard individualmedley as an optional entry. She swamthe same schedule at the 2016 National Championships in Greensboro, N.C.
“This season, I continued with a training plan that Head Coach Kelly Kisner and I found worked best for me,” Conboy said. “This year the only difference is the pride I have in competing in my last meet as a Heron. I know I can leave it all in the pool.”
Conboywill open hermeetWednesday with the 200 individual medley. In December, she won her secondstraight Liberty League Championship in the event touching the wall at 2:09.86. At last month’s Upper New York State Swimming Association Championships, Conboy finished third overall with a time of 2:09.10. In the morning preliminary swim, she posted her season-best time of 2:08.56. Conboy is seeded 39th in the event and is one of 50 swimmers competing for the national championship in the event.
