“I just wanted to make good contact, solid contact, hit it hard and hope that it found a hole,” Caputo said about her game-winning single that scored Kira Konarski and Amaya Vlacich for the game-winner.

Konarski and Vlacich both reached on singles up the middle before walking deep threat Nicole McCarvill to load the bases with one out. TROY 4, BURNT HILLSBALLS­TON LAKE 0 >> Hunter Levesque twirled a complete-game three-hitter with 11 strikeouts to lead Troy’s varsity softball team to a 4-0 shutout of Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake in a Suburban Council contest Monday.

Natalie Stone and Jill Picarillo were both 2-for-3 with a double and a single for the Flying Horses (7-2 Suburban, 10-2 overall).

Chloe Lewandowsk­i was 2-for-4 with two singles for the Spartans (7-2 Suburban, 9-5 overall). HOOSICK FALLS 19, WATERFORD-HALMOON 2 >> Lilly Abbott led the Panthers at the plate with two singles, two triples and three RBIs. Teammate Syd Miller added two singles, a double and five RBIs for Hoosick Falls (4-3 Wasaren League, 5-4 overall). GALWAY 11, FONDA-FULTONVILL­E 4 >> Matisha Kenyon had a single, a triple and two RBIs while Amber Schwab had six strikeouts and a walk in the circle for Galway in the WAC win.

Baseball

WATERFORD-HALFMOON 2, HOOSICK FALLS 1 >> Nikilo Ghidei drew an RBI walk to lead the Fordians to a walkoff victory over the Panthers in a Wasaren League contest. Robert Walek entered in the top of the seventh get the final out of the inning with a strikeout and was awarded the win on the mound. Walek also contribute­d two hits.

Ryan Sanders went 2-for-3 with Hoosick Falls’ only RBI of the contest. TROY 14, BURNT HILLSBALLS­TON LAKE 1 >> Mike Hughes pitched five innings to earn the win on the mound for the Flying Horses while Nick Pastore went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Matt Ashley, John Germinerio and Shawn Seabury each went 2-for-4 in the victory. SHENENDEHO­WA 4, COLONIE 2 >> John Cady pitched a complete game four-hitter with two earned runs, and six strikeouts for the Plainsmen. Joe Palk went 2-for-4 with RBIs while Joe Novenche and Matt Connors also drove in runs for Shen in the victory.

BURNT HILLS-BALLSTON LAKE 19, COHOES 2 >> Caroline Muller, Lauren Hopsicker, Alex Safford and Christina Pedone scored hat tricks for the Spartans in the nonleague rout. Abby Monson and Emmy Monson scored for the Tigers in the loss. ALBANY CUP RETURNING TO TU CENTER >> The annual battle for the Albany Cup will be returning to the Times Union Center this winter. UAlbany will take on crosstown rival Siena in a men’s and women’s basketball doublehead­er on Saturday, Dec. 9. The women will tip-off at 5pm and the men at 7:30 p.m. Game tickets are valid for both games.

This year’s men’s game will be played as part of the Gazelle Group’s 2017 Gotham Classic and is different than years past. The Times Union Center will be a split arena, allowing UAlbany fans to have access to courtside seating, lower bowl tickets and the appropriat­e hospitalit­y areas. Both UAlbany and Siena season ticket holders will take part in an exclusive season ticket holder only pre-sale for the month of May.
