SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. » More than 50 artists will display their fine artwork on the street this weekend for the fifth annual Beekman Street Art Fair.

The fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday along Beekman Street in Saratoga Springs, part of the Beekman Street Arts District.

Hosted by The Arts District on Beekman, Inc. this all-day event is a free family-friendly festival featuring dozens of juried artists, a children’s art station and a performance tent with entertainment for all ages.

Beekman Street will be closed to traffic from Grand Avenue to West Circular Street for the artists to set up their individual tents displaying fine art including painting, photography and lithographs and fine craft including pottery, jewelry, woodworking, and textiles. The 5th Annual Art Fair is coordinated by residents and local artists Belinda Colon, Jeri Favreau, Cecilia Lockwood, Lara McBride, Betsy Olmsted, and Susan Rivers.

Lockwood, director of the fair and co-owner of the local Textile Studio, has been involved with the Arts District since its early days. This will be her fifth year with the fair and she enjoys working with the artists, welcoming back returning exhibitors as well as introducing new artists to Beekman Street. “The fair started as a way to showcase the work of the area’s artists and craftspeople at a low cost and in a casual public venue,” she said in a press release. “We are grateful to Saratoga ArtsFest for helping us in the early years and to Saratoga Arts for awarding us this year’s grant, which allows us to grow the show, bringing in musical and theatrical talent along with a carefully curated group of artists. It will be a feast for all the senses!”
