Woman admits to drugged driving
Daughter died as a result of the crash
BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. » A Corinth woman admitted in Saratoga County Court on Monday to being under the influence of Xanax and Valium when she caused an automobile accident that killed her 18-monthold daughter.
Alison J. Pecor, 21, pleaded guilty to firstdegree vehicular manslaughter, a class C felony, and second-degree vehicular assault, a class E felony.
On Feb. 5, Pecor was driving north on Route 9N in Hadley while under the influence of drugs and with her daughter, Gracelynn Madison. For what court documents said was “no apparent reason,” Pecor crossed into the oncoming lane and collided headon with another vehicle driven by Denise I. Scofield, 55, of Hadley.
Madison was taken to Saratoga Hospital, then to Albany Medical Center where she passed away from her injuries on Feb. 7, deputies said. She was not properly secured in her child seat, which authorities contributed to her fatal injuries
Scofield, who was alone in her vehicle, was transported to Albany Medical Center with serious injuries. Scofield continues to receive rehabilitative services and support, according to the Saratoga County District Attorney’s Office.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Katherine J. Demartino of the vehicular crimes unit.
Pecor is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 5.
