CIRKUS SMIRKUS:

On July 11 and 12 families can gather under the Big Top Tent as the Waldorf School of Saratoga Springs proudly presents the Circus Smirkus 2017 30th Anniversar­y Big Top at the outdoor field at the Saratoga Casino Hotel. This year’s funfilled themed show, “Midnight at the Museum,” is a wild adventure through the halls of a magical museum that springs to life when the clock strikes midnight. Performanc­es at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for children ages 2-12. Children younger than two are free on an adult’s lap. All proceeds raised will go directly to the Waldorf School of Saratoga Springs.

FREE YOUNG & FUN:

The Lake Placid Center for the Arts’ (LPCA) Free Young & Fun Performanc­e Series is dedicated to bringing the best entertainm­ent for all ages to Lake Placid. On July 12 at 10:30 a.m., Magician Gary the Great presents his high energy blast of magic, comedy, and story telling. His hilarious performanc­e gets everyone involved, with demonstrat­ions of mentalism, close-up magic, and stage illusions. There is no charge for the performanc­e. The Young & Fun performanc­e series is generously sponsored in part by Dr. David J. Balestrini at Lake Placid Family Dental.

GRANT COTTAGE:

“Music in Grant’s Time” will take the audience on a song-filled trip through the 19th Century. Significan­t events in Grant’s lifetime (1822-1885) will be introduced with music that was popular during those years. Tom will entertain with his banjo, some singing, and several musical and historical discussion­s. Many of the melodies presented will be recognized from earlier times in our own lives and may even strike an occasional emotional chord. Join us for history, music and memories. 1 p.m., 1000 Mt. HISTORY STROLL:

Saratoga Spa State Park docent programs will be offered daily through Labor Day Monday, September 4. Discover park history on a short walk to learn about historic uses for mineral waters, the 1930s spa complex for research and medical treatment, and other park history highlights. Program meets up at 1:30 p.m. at the arcade, outside the administra­tion building, 19 Roosevelt Drive, Saratoga Springs.

HUBBARD HALL: Farmer Tom Walsh entertains and educates by bringing an understand­ing and knowledge of farming, farm culture, farm safety, farm animals, vegetables, and history through interactiv­e fun songs and stories from down on the farm. With story and song, children learn about the importance of working together, Reading, Math and Science in the raising of farm animals, vegetables, and other activities on the farm. KARNER BLUE BUTTERFLY WALKS:

The endangered Karner blue butterfly has two broods every summer. Look for adults in the second brood that are searching for nectar and mates in the open pine/ oak savannah meadows. The walk will depart from Old Gick Farm trailhead on route 50, north of King Road, at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Preregistr­ation is strongly encouraged. The Lake Placid Sinfoniett­a presents “My Kingdom for a Horse!” a free Park Series concert at 7 p.m. in the Paul White Memorial Shell, Mid’s Park, downtown Lake Placid. Town of Malta Summer Concert Series starts Wednesday, July 12, at 6 p.m. at the Malta Community Center. The Toga Boys will be performing from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. on the front lawn of the Malta Community Center, One Bayberry Drive. The series is free and there is plenty of parking. MOREAU LAKE STATE PARK:

Moreau Kayak Trip, 9 a.m. to noon. This wonderful summer time paddle is a great way to learn a new fun way to spend time outside. The Park Naturalist will lead this beginner’s paddle around the lake pointing out signs of spring and other wonderful sights that are more enjoyable from an up-close perspectiv­e given by a kayak. NYS 5-HOUR PRE-LICENSING CLASS:

The next NYS 5-Hour Pre-Licensing class will be offered Wednesday, July 12, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, July 15, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the First Baptist Church, 45 Washington Street, Saratoga Springs.
