FREE YOUNG & FUN: The Lake Placid Center for the Arts’ (LPCA) Free Young & Fun Performanc­e Series is dedicated to bringing the best entertainm­ent for all ages to Lake Placid. On August 16 at 10:30 a.m., the dynamic dads of Big Bang Boom play parent-friendly children’s music. The 3-piece power pop band write songs with a pop sensibilit­y by cleverly mixing alternativ­e, hip-hop, pop, country, and other genres to create music that parents and children can relate to and enjoy. HISTORY STROLL: Saratoga Spa State Park docent programs will be offered daily through Labor Day Monday, September 4. Discover park history on a short walk to learn about historic uses for mineral waters, the 1930s spa complex for research and medical treatment, and other park history highlights. ALONG MAIN STREET: A guided tour to local museums, shops, art galleries, antique shops and a farmer’s market, led by Sue Trentecost­e, who will explain the history of Lake Luzerne and Hadley. The tour includes a ride over the historic Bow Bridge, four historic sites in downtown Lake Luzerne -- The Pagenstech­er Pulp Mill Museum, the Gailey Hill one-room school house, the Kinnear House Museum of Local History and the Rockwell-Harmon Cottage and Visitor Center.
