SARATOGA SPRINGS - Yvonne Bernadette “Bernie” Polcare, 70, formerly of Schenectad­y, N.Y., passed away on July 28, 2017 at her home in Saratoga Springs.

Bernie was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on July 1, 1947, the daughter of the late John Purcell and the late Bonnie Duncan Purcell. She worked as a phar- macist’s assistant for many years and was an active member of the local Eagles club. As a member of the Blackfeet Nation, Bernie took great pride in her Na- tive American heritage and learning the customs of the Blackfeet Tribe. She also loved computer games, word games, and murder mystery novels.

In addition to her ents, Bernie is predecease­d by her husband Jon “Jack” G. Polcare and her sister Carol Purcell.

Survivors include her two sons Michael Polcare (Deana) and Clint Polcare, all of Saratoga Springs; her brother Jack Purcell of Georgia; her sister Shirley Purcell DeCarlo (Paul) of Schenectad­y and many nieces, nephews and grandchild­ren.

In honoring Bernie’s wishes, there will be no services or calling hours.

Bernie actively supported the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. In lieu of flowers, do- nations can be sent to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (Northeaste­rn NY Chapter), 455 Patroon Creek Blvd. Suite 108, Albany, NY 12206 or the Blackfeet Nation Tribe, P.O. Box 850, Browning, Montana 59417.
