New historic exhibit opens at Parks-Bentley Place

SOUTH GLENS FALLS, N.Y. » A new exhibit, “Foundation­s of Faith,” featuring memorabili­a from local houses of worship, will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. each Saturday through Oct. 7 at Parks-Bentley Place, 53 Ferry Blvd. in South Glens Falls.

Parks-Bentley Place, which is listed on the National Historic Register, is headquarte­rs for the Historical Society of Moreau and South Glens Falls.

The exhibit focuses on the history of houses of worship in the town of Moreau and village of South Glens Falls.

Memorabili­a for the exhibit is provided by St. Michael the Archangel, South Glens Falls First Baptist, St Andrew Lutheran, South

Glens Falls United Methodist, Fortsville United Methodist, and the Adirondack Friends Meeting (Quakers).

Members from the various faith organizati­ons will be on hand throughout the exhibition to present an oral history of their organizati­ons and to answer questions from visitors.

The Historical Society of Moreau and South Glens Falls is a not-for- profit corporatio­n. Throughout the year, the society presents historical programs in-house at Parks-Bentley Place and at schools and other locations to further historical education about the area.

Parks-Bentley Place is open to the public on a regular basis, but private tours and programs can be arranged by appointmen­t.
