ALL-COUNTY BAND FESTIVAL: The Galway Central School District hosts the conclusion of the SaratogaWarren County Music Educators Association (SWCMEA) All-County Band Festival on Saturday, October 21. Approximately 230 student musicians from 17 school districts were selected to participate in the festival based on their evaluation scores from their New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) solo performances last spring. The students will rehearse with guest conductors on Saturday morning beginning at 9 a.m. for a 2 p.m. performance that is open to the public. ANIMAL SHELTER BENEFIT SALE:
Estherville Animal Shelter has cared for abused and abandoned animals for over 60 years. It is a “No Kill”, privately run, non-profit shelter; located in Greenfield Center, Saratoga County. True Elegance Boutique at 124 Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa, will donate 30% of each days’ proceeds to help support the shelter on Saturday, October 21, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, October 22, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

BEER & CIDER SUMMIT:
Kraverie Beer Bar on Beekman Street in Saratoga Springs will host a beer and cider tasting on October 21 from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. A percentage of the proceeds will be donated to Wellspring, the area’s domestic violence and sexual assault crisis service. The seven participating breweries and cideries upstate New York include Common Roots, Schmaltz, and Paradox. Brewery representatives will be on hand to talk about their flagship and seasonal brews. Kraverie will provide free snacks during the tasting. The night will continue with dinning and music by Quitten’Time.

Join Sloppy Kisses on Saturday, October 21, for their annual Doggie Howl-O-Ween Costume Parade & Contest in Downtown Saratoga Springs. Check-in at 11:15 a.m. at Sloppy Kisses, 425 Broadway. Costume Parade from Sloppy Kisses to the Parting Glass, 40 Lake Avenue, begins at 11:30 a.m. Costume Contest and Doggie Yappy Hour at the Parting Glass starts at noon. The registration fee is $5.00 per dog. Each dog participating in the event will receive a goodie bag. Preregistration at Sloppy Kisses ends on Wednesday, October 18. FALLING LEAVES FESTIVAL:
The Village of Ballston Spa’s Annual Falling Leaves Festival takes place on October 21 from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The parade will kick off on Front Street, with line up at 2:45 p.m. The parade will take the kids through the village to Kelly Park for the remaining activities. This is a free event for the community with games, bouncy houses, costume contest, pie eating contest, crafts, prizes and much more. GENEALOGY CONFERENCE:
Pamela Vittorio, popular genealogy lecturer and college professor, will speak at the annual Heritage Hunters Genealogy Conference on Saturday, October 21, at Saratoga Town Hall, corner of Rt. 4 and Rt. 29, in Schuylerville. Pamela specializes in US and Canadian history/genealogy. Conference topics are “Finding Your Loyalist Ancestors;” “Tracking Family Members in Ship Lists;” “Boatmen of the New York State Canals;” and “River Crossings: Northern NY & New England Ancestors in Eastern Ontario & Quebec.” The day begins with registration and coffee at 8:45 a.m. and concludes at 3:15 p.m. The registration fee of $30 for members and $40 for nonmembers includes a hot lunch, breaks, and exhibits.
