CHARLTON - Clara ninati, 91, a 45 year resiNY dent of Charlton, died at her home in South Jordan, Utah on October 17. She was born in Ossining, to Donato and Jennie (FasstuClar­a ciani) Sylvestri on October 12, 1926 and was one of 6 children.

She attended Albany State Teachers College, where she obtained a teaching degree and met fellow dent and future husband Albert Beninati of Ballston Spa. They were married on August 20, 1949 and immediatel­y started her teaching career in Sharon Springs, NY.

After the birth of her first two children, in Kerhonkson, NY where her husband was teaching at the time, she taught 3rd grade in Valley Cottage, NY. Clara then moved with her family to New Paltz, NY, where her two younger children were born. This was followed by a 4-year prestigiou­s and in help na returned vigorating period when she moved with children ages 2 months to 14 years Darto es-Salaam Tanzania, where her husband was working on a USAID Project ing to establishm­ent a tional University system. After the experience in Africa, the family briefly to Ballston Spa and then to Charlton. Clara again returned to teaching, substituti­ng at Galway elementary school.

Clara was a member of Ballston Spa Country Club and later an avid member of a ladies golf league that played at Saratoga Spa State Park. She and her husband traveled regularly to Italy, where Clara estab conau Charll is heda nd maintained tact with a cousin and her father’s extended family in Cugnoli, Abruzzo. Clara was an excellent cook, especially known for thentic Italian meals and outstandin­g pies. Due to her many years in ton, Clara became an avid lover of the nature that surrounded their home.

She is predecease­d by her husband Albert Beninati and survived by her four children: Claire Anne (Vic Thomson) of Toronto and Cozumel, Mexico; Noel (Judy Kinns) of Bluffton, SC; William (Deborah Sherry) of Sandy, Utah and Barbara Beninati of Danbury CT; grandchild­ren Genevieve, Daniel, Anna, Michael, Mary, Alexa and Gabriel; brother Henry Sylvestri and sister Joan (skunk) (Booth) Mattson.

Clara will be cremated and her ashes will be inBrighHos­Suite terred at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. Donations in her name can made to ton Home Health and pice, 1106 E 6600 S, 100, Murray, UT 84121.
