Take the politics out of city services

-

Saratoga Springs needs to establish a City Council that will focus its energy on determining the city’s real priorities, rather than administrating daily tasks. We already have Department heads that are capable of managing their department. The new city charter provides the organization structure to make this happen.

Allow more Council input on the direction of city services instead of only one person making the decisions for their department.

Eliminate the shadow conflict-of-interest where city services are disproportionately influenced by which constituents can help get the Commissioner re-elected.

Lock the “back door”, so everyone gets treated the same way when needing to use City Departments.

We need to be represented by people that will respond to us not only hearing our ideas or complaints at a 2 minute time slot at a Council meeting.

I believe that fear and untruths about an issue appear believable because people may not have the facts to challenge them. You can get the facts by visiting https://saratogacharter.com/final-charter-draft/ to view or download a copy. In addition, a comprehensive overview of the benefits this new charter can bring can be found at http://www.itstimesaratoga.com. If you just want to view the document put it in your bookmarks so you can check out the fact to anything you hear.

This is Saratoga Springs constitution, so we should all know what it says to make an educated vote. Rick Thompson Saratoga Springs
