ALBANY, N.Y. » Christian Brothers Academy students Nicolas Melillo, Pryce Wasula and Dominic Meola signed national letters of intent to continue their athletic careers in college at a ceremony in the CBA Alumni Library on Thursday.

Melillo, a Schenectady resident, signed with Division I Siena College. The three-year varsity baseball starter in center field adds speed and power to the Brothers’ lineup. In 2017, he started all 20 games and led the team in runs scored (19) and triples (3). He was second on the team in three statistical categories — batting average at .359, runs batted in 16, and 7 doubles. Melillo had an on-base percentage of .494 and was 5-for-5 on stolen bases. He helped lead CBA to a record of 17-3 in 2017. As a sophomore, he played in all 20 games, scoring 15 runs, with 8 RBI, and 7 stolen bases.

Pryce Wasula, a Green Island resident, will play Division II baseball at Saint Rose. The two-year varsity pitcher entered in some of the biggest situations out of the bullpen in 2017. Wasula pitched 15 innings in 9 games with a 1.88 earned run average. He was 1-0 with 13 strikeouts. Wasula will be a major part of the pitching staff for the 2018 season and was identified as a hard worker and a great teammate on both the CBA basketball and baseball teams.

Dominic Meola, an Amsterdam resident chose to play lacrosse for Saint Rose over Pace University, Southern New Hampshire and Union College. The Brothers defenseman is a 6-foot-2 three-year varsity starter expected to anchor the defense as a senior. “Coach (Jim) Morrissey is getting a superior

athlete, student and citizen,” Brothers head coach Rich Scully said. “Dom will make an immediate impact at Saint Rose.” Meola is a three sport athlete at CBA.
