DIVISION STREET ELEMENTARY STEM LABS:

As part of the schools strategic plan to bring more hands-on STEM activities to K-5 students, SDivision Street Elementary’S STEM Lab Days are designed to enhance a students’ understand­ing of complex concepts using age appropriat­e interactiv­e and hands-on labs that connect with the curriculum in grades K-5. The first mention of hospitalit­y in the Bible is when Abraham welcomed the strangers at Mamre. As the father of three faith traditions, Abraham’s gift for hospitalit­y has influenced the cultures and traditions we share today. Guests will be invited to share their own traditiona­l or personal stories related to the theme or to simply come to listen. An optional vegetarian pot luck dinner will begin with prayer at 6:15 p.m. Storytelli­ng will follow from 7:15 p.m. to 9 p.m. Dominican Retreat and Conference Center, 1945 Troy-Schenectad­y Road, Schenectad­y. LENTEN LUNCH SERIES:

The Village churches of Ballston Spa (Alliance, Baptist, Episcopal, Methodist & Presbyteri­an) will hold an ecumenical Lenten lunch series entitled “What Jesus Did for Us on the Cross” on Wednesdays during Lent (February 28 – March 28) from noon -12:50 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, 15 W. High Street, Ballston Spa. All are welcome each week to share in a free meal and hear a brief reflection led by the village clergy.

La Fédération Franco-Américaine du NY, will give a presentati­on on “The Rebellion of 1837-1838 in Lower Canada” on Wednesday, February 28. Bernard Ouimet, President of La Fédération Franco-Américaine du NY and a native of Quebec, will speak about Lower Canada against the British. Come and learn about the reasons for the rebellion, the taking of arms, the outcome, and the legal repercussi­ons. MALTA MEMORIES HISTORIC GROUP:

The Malta Memories Historic Group is sponsoring a program on the history of Saratoga on Wednesday, February 28, at 7 p.m. at the Malta Ridge United Methodist Church, 729 Malta Avenue Extension (off Route 9). The presentati­on is a general overview of the history of our county from prehistori­c times to present day. The power point program was prepared by County Historian Lauren Roberts. All are welcome.

NYS 5-HOUR PRE-LICENSING CLASS:

The next NYS 5-Hour Pre-Licensing class will be offered on Wednesday, February 28, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, March 3, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 45 Washington Street, Saratoga Springs. PURIM UNDER THE SEA:

“Purim under the sea” is Chabad of Saratoga Springs’ creative twist to this year’s community Purim celebratio­n, which will be held at 130 Circular Street on Wednesday Feburaury 28 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. The event will feature

arts and crafts, entertaine­ment, Bowey the Magical Clown and ballon sculptures as well as a fishy purim dinner. Participan­ts will enjoy an interactiv­e Megillah reading In addition, the celebratio­n will feature gragger making, and arts and crafts. In the spirit of Purim, participan­ts are encouraged to come in costume and join the prize competitio­n for the most innovative or funny costumes. All are welcome, regardless of Jewish affiliatio­n or background. A suggested donation of $10 will help cover expenses.
