La Verdad, a New Yorkbred Eclipse Award-winning mare owned by Lady Sheila Stable at Edition Farm in Hyde Park, N.Y., delivered a filly by Tapit on March 15 to become the fourth mare participating in the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame’s Foal Patrol to give birth in 2018. Both the mare and foal are doing well. This is La Verdad’s second foal.

The next Foal Patrol mare scheduled to give birth is Memento d’Oro, who is in foal to Bodemeister. Owned by Old Tavern Farm in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Memento d’Oro has an expected due date of March 31.

Sabbatical, owned by Phipps Stable, was the first mare in the Foal Patrol project to give birth this year, delivering a colt by War Front on Jan. 19 at Claiborne Farm. Phipps Stable agreed to choose the colt’s name from selections submitted by fans of Foal Patrol. The Jockey Club has approved the submitted name Tour of Duty.

The name Tour of Duty was submitted by Michelle Giedt of Plymouth, Mich., and Elizabeth Blair of Shamong, N.J. The winners will receive a letter from the Museum, Foal Patrol merchandise and an opportunity to visit historic Claiborne Farm through Horse Country, a Kentucky-based tour company specializing in horse farm experiences.
