BALLSTON SPA Thomas J. Ruddy passed away Friday, March 23, 2018 at Wesley after a year-long battle with cancer. He was 84. He was born in Cohoes on January 29, 1934 and was predecease­d by his mother, Margaret (Arciello) Burns, his stepfather, Addison Burns, his son Tommy Ruddy and his stepdaught­er, Lorrianne Barisic. Tom was a decorated U.S. Marine who served in the Korean Conflict. He worked at GE in Schenectad­y for 30 years before retiring. He then went on to work at the Saratoga Race Course for 15 years. He is survived by his sons, Joseph Ruddy (Yvette) and John Ruddy, his stepson, Lawrence Barisic, his former wife, Lorraine Ruddy, his brother Bill Ruddy, nephew Billy Ruddy, nieces Kim Ruddy and Kelly Ruddy, and several grandchild­ren. The family would like to thank Dr. Lieber, the wonderful staff at Saratoga Hospital who cared for him many times in this last year, the wonderful staff at Wesley who took such wonderful care of him during his last few days, and the wonderful staff from hospice, who were so good and supportive to the family during this difficult time. At Tom’s request there will be no calling hours. Service with military honors will be conducted at 10am on Tuesday, April 3 at the Gerald B.H. Solomon, Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Road, Schuylervi­lle, NY Donations can be made in Tom’s name to any charity helping a veteran. Arrangemen­ts are in the care of the M.B.
