VICTORY MILLS - Rolland E. Fontaine, 87, a resident of Kempton Place in Saratoga Springs, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2018 surrounded by his family. Born November 22, 1930 in Lowell, VT he was the son of the late Aime and Yvonne Benoit Fontaine. Rolland was a graduate of St. Michael’s College in VT, University of Ottawa Seminary, in Ottawa, Canada, and Middlebury College School of Languages in VT with his Masters in Teaching French. He worked for ten years teaching in the Vermont School System and then taught French for twenty-five years at Saratoga Springs High School. He traveled with the students to France ten times. He was a communican­t, lector, choir member, and religious school teacher at Notre Dame-Visitation Church in Schuylervi­lle. He enjoyed gardening, traveling to Florida during the winter months, traveling to the Caribbean and the ocean. He worked part time at the Second Hand Rose Thrift Shop. He also enjoyed picking strawberri­es and blueberrie­s and baking bread to share with his family and friends. He was also a former member of the Racing City Chorus. In addition to his parents, he was predecease­d by brothers, Adrien, Rene, Alfred, and Richard Fontaine. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Theresa Eustis Fontaine of Saratoga Springs; siblings, George Fontaine, Leo Fontaine, Annette Morse, Rachel Bouchard, Evelyn Cedroni, Paul Fontaine, and Roger Fontaine; as well as several nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10am Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Notre Dame-Visitation Church with Rev. Martin Fisher, officiatin­g. Burial will be at a later date in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 4-7pm at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave., Schuylervi­lle, NY 12871.
