Man accused of assault with knife
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. » Two people were attacked Monday morning on Caroline Street by somoene wielding a knife, according to police.
Police charged Cendno Rahaman, 28, with second-degree assault, a felony, third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, two counts of second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor.
Shortly after 4 a.m., officers responded to a reported fight on Caroline Street. A 23-year-old male with several cuts of his face and head and a 24-yearold female with a cut to her wrist were found on Broadway by Caroline Street.
Rahaman was located almost immediately on Caroline Street near Putnam Street.
Investigation showed that the male victim and Rahaman had been involved in a physical altercation on Caroline Street. During the initial fight, Rahaman took out a folding knife, opened it up and proceeded to menace the male victim with the knife. Both took off on foot up Caroline Street. Rahaman pursued the two on foot with the knife, subsequently catching the male. Rahaman proceeded to cut the male in the head and face several times until a passerby intervened. The female received the cut to her wrist during Rahaman’s initial actions with the knife.
The female victim was treated on scene by Saratoga Springs Fire Department, while the male victim was transported to Albany Medical Center. The total extent of his injuries are not known, but they are not life threatening.
Rahaman was arraigned and committed to Saratoga County Jail on $10,000 cash/ $20,000 bond.
