Teakwood Builders relocates
Company celebrates grand opening at new location Thursday
Spa City-based luxury home building and remodeling company Teakwood Builders now has a new industrial-chic headquarters on Church Street.
After relocating from Butler Place to the nearby 75 Church St., Teakwood Builders celebrated its grand opening on Thursday at its new digs. A ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce was followed by an open house event in the evening.
Founded by president and owner Jim Sasko in 1996, Teakwood is a leading provider of luxury home construction, historic renovations and expansions, vacation and secondhome construction and renovation, bespoke kitchen and bath remodels and commercial projects, serving the residents and businesses of Albany, Columbia, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Warren and Washington counties.
The company, which today employs 20 people, has won several regional and national awards for its building and remodeling excellence, and its work has been featured in several notable national publications.
The new Teakwood space is a 3,100-square-foot office and showroom. Formerly a 1940s gas station and commercial garage, and then home to Mangione Locksmiths, Teakwood Builders smartly transformed the box-style garage into an industrial-chic building. While other developers saw a tear-down, Sasko saw possibility.
The transformed property is a testament to Teakwood’s innovative approach to renovations and luxury home builds. In order to preserve the industrial character of the space, the building features four new aluminum, multi-pane glass over-
head doors, and porcelain shade wall sconces.
“There was something really appealing about this box-style building and its history as a garage,” Sasko said in a press release. “Converting this older structure into a contemporary, post-modern showpiece gave us the opportunity to show off our creativity and construction abilities, and we are proud of how it turned out.”
Sasko has wanted to relocate for a long time, for the opportunity to have a showroom. “We’re happy to be here,” he said.
The project was completed in about 10 months, and the move took place in August.
The building serves as headquarters for Teakwood Builders and an 1,800 square foot expansion to the building now houses a showroom for Housewright Cabinetry, Teakwood’s new sister company. Housewright offers builders, designers, architects, and homeowners a wide selection of cabinetry made with the highest level of craftsmanship.
Sasko said he started Housewright Cabinetry as “a push more toward cabinet-only sales and the interior design pieces of kitchens and bathrooms.”
Looking ahead, Sasko said his goal for the future of Teakwood is to “maintain a sustainable business in Saratoga Springs,” keeping the same clientele it works with now while also diversifying the types of projects it takes on, from high-end luxury projects to kitchen and bath remodels.
“We really look forward to the future of our company and the direction that we’re going,” Sasko said during the ribbon cutting ceremony, thanking his staff. “We look forward to what’s coming next.”
