Moreau man arrested on charges after fight
WILTON, N.Y. >> A Moreau man was arrested for driving while intoxicated, assault and other charges after a fight with New York State troopers and others at the scene. State Police in Wilton arrested Steven L. Bickford, 36, of Moreau at 2:27 p.m. on March 16 after responding to a report of a male who had just broke all the windows out of a vehicle with a hammer and was subsequently fighting with several persons in the driveway of a residence in Wilton.
When troopers arrived, Bickford was being detained by several persons on scene. Bickford continued to fight with troopers and other persons on scene as troopers tried to take him into custody.
He was ultimately taken and transported to the State Police barracks in Wilton. While at the barracks, Bickford continued to be uncooperative, refusing to be processed or to submit to a chemical test of his breath.
Bickford was charged with criminal mischief third, a felony, driving while intoxicated, two counts of assault third, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration second, and disorderly conduct.
Bickford was arraigned in the Town of Moreau Court by Town Justice McCabe and remanded to Saratoga County Jail for lack of $2500 cash / $5000 insurance bond. He is to appear in the Town of Wilton Court on a later date.
