SCHUYLERVILLE, N.Y. – Incumbent Republican Jason Young and Democrat Tim LeBaron were elected to four-year trustee terms and Republican Whitney Colvin won the race for a two-year seat in Village of Schuylerville elections on Tuesday.

The outcome gives Democrats a 3 to 2 majority on the village board.

Young and LeBaron were the top vote-getters for the four-year terms with 93 and 81, respectively, as they outpolled incumbent Republican Robert Petralia and Democrat Stuart Woodley, who had 67 and 46 votes, respectively.

In the two-year trustee race, Colvin defeated Democrat Diana Martindale by a margin of 73 to 65 votes.

In the election, Republicans appeared on the ballot as Ethics for Schuylerville candidates because the GOP missed a deadline for getting them on the ballot on the Republican line.

Mayor Dan Carpenter and Trustee Brian Drew, whose seats were not up for election, are both Democrats, giving their party a majority on the board.

In South Glens Falls balloting, incumbent Trustee Tim Carota and former Mayor Joseph Orlow, both Republicans, defeated Democrats Elizabeth Wilcox and Brigid Martin for two trustee seats. Carota and Orlow were the top vote-getters with 144 and 120, respectively, while Wilcox and Martin garnered 79 and 56, respectively.

These were the only contested village elections in Saratoga County.

In uncontested balloting, Galway Mayor William Hyde and Trustee Phyllis Ryan, both Republicans, were elected to new twoyear terms.

In Round Lake, non-partisan candidates Paul Block and Heidi Parker were elected to two-year trustee seats.

There were no seats open for election in Corinth, Victory or Waterford this year.

In Stillwater, village elections are held in November.
