QUEENSBURY, N.Y. >> A sure sign that summer is on the way is this week’s 14th annual Great Upstate Boat Show scheduled for Friday to Sunday the Adirondack Sports Complex at 326 Sherman Ave.

Dealers from throughout the region, including those on Saratoga Lake, will have about 175 boats on display. Hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

The industry’s top 60 boat brands will be represented.

Visitors also may take part in the “Crack the Vault” contest for a chance to win $100,000 by dropping their ticket stubs in a container. Drawings will be made every hour in an attempt to “crack the vault.”

Outboard powered pontoons are now the number one family boat across America. A variety of these models will be displayed including a 25-foot Bennington with a 425 horsepower Yamaha outboard motor, plus under-20 foot pontoons powered by a two horsepower, 48-volt electric motor.

More big fiberglass boats are using outboard power now, too, such as the 30foot 2019 Chaparral Model 300 OSX with twin Yamaha 300 horsepower outboards.

In addition to pontoon and big outboards, the show will have a new model Malibu 25-foot ski/wakeboard boat, an early-release 2020 Cobalt A-29 enhanced bowrider, and a Chris Craft 35foot GT sterndrive model.

Among other highlights, the U.S. Power Squadron and U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will have booths at the show.

Numerous seminars are planned on a variety of topics such as Prop 101 by Precision Prop Company, Wakesurfing 101 by Castaway Marina, and a boater safety course in which participants may earn a New York State Boating Safety Certificate. Registration is available online or by calling (518) 791-0070.

In addition, more than two dozen lifestyle vendors will be on hand with numerous items available.
