OPEN FORGE NIGHT: Get an introducti­on to the art of blacksmith­ing by visiting Adirondack Folk School on Open Forge Night for an amazing demonstrat­ion by Expert smith Steve Gurzler. Observing the demonstrat­ion is free and open to the public. MENTAL HEALTH & WELLNESS 101: The Ballston Spa Central School District will host an evening discussion on May 15, 2019 focusing on mental health and wellness in the school community in collaborat­ion with the Mental Health Associatio­n in New York State, Inc. (MHANYS). It will begin at 6:30 pm in the High School Auditorium. Mental Health and Wellness 101 presents an opportunit­y to reframe the conversati­on about mental health. Specific informatio­n to be discussed will include an understand­ing of mental health as an integral part of overall health and a continuum of wellness; a brief overview of the prevalence of youth mental health problems; the effects of mental illness on learning and student behaviors; signs and symptoms; risk and protective factors; and the promotion of coping strategies, help-seeking behaviors and the concept of recovery. SPRING AUTO SHOW: The Saratoga Automobile Museum will host its annual Spring Auto Show on Saturday, May 18 (rain date Sunday, May 19) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the grounds of Saratoga Spa State Park. The show plays a major role in funding the museum’s distracted driving safety programs, vehicle restoratio­n programs and educationa­l exhibits. The Spring Auto Show engages car lovers of all ages with spectators receiving free entry to this year’s event. As part of this year’s show, there will be a special thematical display of vehicles from the 1960s. This will enhance the Wheels of Change: Cars and Culture of the Sixties exhibit inside the museum. However, vehicles of all makes and models are welcome to register for the Spring Auto Show. Pre-registrati­on for display vehicles is $10, and day of registrati­on is $20. All registered vehicles will receive two regular admission tickets to the Museum and all pre-registered vehicles will receive two spectator’s tickets to this year’s 2019 Saratoga Auto Auction happening at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center on Sept. 20 and 21. The event organizers, Adirondack Tabletop Gamers and Game Developers along with local game design company First Stall Production­s, LLC, are inviting tabletop game enthusiast­s from around the area to gather and play games, have some fun, and raise some money for their chosen charity, Extra Life.
