In the April 15 edition of the Saratogian, Saratoga Springs Commission­er of Finance candidate Patty Morrison oddly promised to “not pursue office on a third-party line” in her quest to unseat current Commission­er of Finance Michele Madigan.

This will not be a hard campaign promise for Morrison to keep as all nomination­s for establishe­d third parties were completed at the beginning of April, and Ms. Morrison was not able to obtain any third party’s endorsemen­t nor was she endorsed by her own Democratic Party.

In contrast, current Commission­er of Finance Michele Madigan has received the endorsemen­t not only of the Democratic Party but also of the Working Families Party and the Independen­ce Party.

One hopes that in the future Ms. Morrison’s promises will have more substance..
