Quaglia named to Google Cloud Academic All District At-Large team
ALBANY, N.Y. >> Sophomore Colleen Quaglia (East Greenbush, N.Y./Albany Academies) represents The College of Saint Rose on the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District® AtLarge Team for her combined performance in the pool and in the classroom. The teams are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) who recognize student-athletes in four divisions; NCAA Division I, II, and III, and NAIA.
As a first-team selection, Quaglia will appear on the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First, second, and third-team (if applicable) Academic AllAmerica® honorees will be announced next month.
Quaglia, an accounting major, earned Honorable Mention All-America plaudits in the 500yard freestyle at the 2019 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Indianapolis, where she became just the third female in Golden Knights history to qualify.
Quaglia was also named the Elite 24 Winner at this year’s Northeast-10 Conference Championships for having the highest gradepoint-average among all female participants at that meet. She won the 500 free and 200 butterfly, and tied for first in the 100 backstroke while setting six individual school records and bolstering a pair of relay team records throughout the four days of competition.
Quaglia, who is a member of the Saint Rose Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, also lowered a pair of school records at the 2018 NE10 Championships. She currently owns eight individual school records and is part of two record-setting relay teams.
The Division II and III Google Cloud Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA Google Cloud Academic AllAmerica® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
