CANTINA FUN RUN: The 2019 Cantina Kids Fun Run will be held Sunday, June 2 in Congress Park. The race starts at 9 a.m. Early bird registrati­on is $15 through May 21; after that date, general registrati­on (including race day) is $20. Since its inception in 2008, the event has raised over $490,000 for children’s healthcare at Saratoga Hospital, with the lion’s share of the proceeds benefiting pediatric emergency medicine. Run as a family. Strollers are welcome. Preregistr­ation: Online, now through noon May 30. Go to cantinakid­sfunrun.org. Pre-registered runners can pick up race packets in advance on June 1, from 9 a.m. to noon in Congress Park, near the Casino. Race-day registrati­on: June 2, 8-8:45 a.m., in Congress Park, near the Carousel. Two courses: ¼ mile or 1 mile. BUTTERFLY WALKS: Karner Blue Butterfly Walks at the Old Gick Farm Trail, Wednesdays May 29 – June 26 at 11:00 am & 4:00 pm. The endangered Karner blue butterfly has two broods every summer. The first brood should emerge late in May and the next brood should emerge in early July. We will be looking for adults of the first brood that are searching for nectar and mates in the open pine/oak savannah meadows. The walk will be cancelled if it is raining. The walk lasts for about an hour. Please park in the lot by the Saratoga Sandplains Sign on Route 50 half a mile north of King Road. Registrati­on is strongly encouraged.

CORNELL HILL FIRE TOWER: June 2, 8, and 9 from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. The Historic Cornell Hill Fire Tower and Fire Ranger observer’s cabin will be open for those who want to get a birds-eye view of the park while learning about the life of a fire tower monitor. You can climb the tower and visit the re-created Fire Ranger Cabin. Hours may change based on weather and availabili­ty of fire tower volunteers.

UHV WATERCOLOR SOCIETY EXHIBIT: The annual June 2019 UHV Watercolor Society exhibit of their paintings will be held at Crandall Library from June 3 until June 29.

GARAGE SALE VENDOR SPACE AVAILABLE: First Presbyteri­an Church of Ballston Spa (22 West High St.) is offering vendor spaces for the Ballston Spa Village Wide Garage Sale on Saturday, June 8. Indoors! No need to worry about weather. Located right in the center of town with the most garage sale traffic. $25 without table. $40 with 8’ table. FREE MOVIES IN THE PARK: Free movies in Wiswall Park are back for the twelfth summer in a row, presented by the Ballston Spa Business and Profession­al Associatio­n, as part of its monthly First Friday activities. The series begins on June 7 (rain date June 8) with “Hotel Transylvan­ia 3”. “Ralph Breaks the Internet” will be shown on July 5 (rain date July 6), “The Incredible­s 2” on August 2 (rain date August 3) and “Mary Poppins Returns” on September 6 (rain date September 7). All films are familyfrie­ndly. The movies are projected onto the wall of the adjacent Front Street Deli building on Front Street in the village and begin at approximat­ely dusk (8:30-8:45 pm). Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on. Movie snacks will be available. Before the movies, families are encouraged to stroll to downtown shops, restaurant­s, museums and other venues participat­ing in First Friday.
