Community Library Summer Reading events

BURNT HILLS, N.Y. >> On June 24 at 4:30 p.m. the Town of Ballston Community Library and the Friends of the Library will be hosting a Summer Reading Kickoff Party at Jenkins Park in Burnt Hills.

The celebratio­n will include face painting, live music by Jordan and Ashleigh, a photo booth, crafts, games, therapy dogs Leela and Seamus, snacks, and more.

Going outside the Library to offer programmin­g isn’t new, according to Jenn Richard, Head of Adult Services at the Library. “The Library loves going out into the community. This is the second summer we are partnering with Jenkins Park to offer programmin­g there, and it has been very well received,” Richard said.

Summer Reading at the Town of Ballston Community Library in Burnt Hills will run from June 21- August 10. There will be over 80 children’s programs offered over the 7-week period, including The Puppet People on July 3, at Charlton Heights Elementary School, authors Becky Albertalli and Jennifer Dugan on July 9, Star Wars Laser Tag on July 25, and Storytime at Jenkins Park every Monday, weather permitting from June 24 – August 5.

Programmin­g for adults will include Mom on the Go Makeup and Hair Tutorial presented by Bella Nani on July 2 and a Paint and Sip program provided by Saratoga Paint and Sip on July 22.

Registrati­on for Summer Reading is now open; register online or by calling the Library at (518) 399-8174. Signup for weeks 1-3 of Summer Reading youth programs will open on June 17. Registrati­on in the Summer Reading Program is required to attend Summer Reading programs.
