SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. >> A Saratoga Springs man was arrested for pointing a stolen black revolver at two other males in a backyard in the City.

Joseph P. Koren, 24, was arrested on June 19 for criminal possession of a loaded firearm second degree, tampering with physical evidence, criminal possession of stolen property fourth degree:firearms, all felonies, and resisting arrest, a misdemeanor.

The initial responding Saratoga Springs police officer upon arrival was directed by the paving crew to a home on Hathorn which the male had walked behind.

As the officer approached the side of the home he saw who he believed to be the male party in the rear yard. This male, later identified as Koren, was observed pointing a black revolver at two other males in the backyard there.

Not knowing the exact circumstances, the officer engaged them all verbally. Koren did not comply and jumped over the fence in the backyard and into an adjacent yard with the revolver.

Additional units from the police department responded, established a perimeter, and were able to lo

cate Koren hiding in a yard on Tiffany Place, an adjacent street.

Koren was taken into custody without further incident.

The black revolver, which was a fully loaded .38 caliber revolver, was recovered as well. It was determined the revolver had been previously reported as a stolen weapon from a different municipality.

The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police assisted at the scene. Koren was arraigned this afternoon and remanded to Saratoga County Jail on $20,000 cash/ $40,000 bond
