TROY, N.Y. >> The Downtown Troy Business Improvement District announced the winners of various awards from the 12th annual Troy Pig Out event on Saturday.

Troy’s 12th Annual Pig Out on Saturday, July 13th from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., offered a full day of family fun where culinary competitors duke it out for the best BBQ.

Awards included the Grand Champion, 2nd Place, the Mayor’s Choice, and the People’s Choice. Over 30,000 people flocked to Riverfront Park to taste some of the area’s best food and submit their vote for best ribs, sponsored by Dinosaur Bar-B-Que. The allages festival also included a hot dog eating contest, a cornhole competition and a pie-eating competition. There were craft vendors, activities for children, live music throughout the day, ending with Fireworks over the Hudson River at dusk.

The highly anticipated barbecue competition brought in returning and new competitors. Bernie’s Blue Line BBQ, Capital Q Smokehouse, The Corner Grill, Doc Bones BBQ, Muddaddy Flats, Rollin’ Smoke Catering & Food Truck, Smoke Lodge, and Yanni’s Too Restaurant marinated, smoked, grilled, and sauced their meats to perfection.
