THEATER AUDITIONS: Home Made Theater, Saratoga’s resident theater company, announces open auditions for their December production of It’s a Wonderful Life, by James W. Rodgers, based on the film by Frank Capra and the story by Philip Van Doren Stern. It’s a Wonderful Life will be directed by Laurie Larson. Auditions will be held on Tuesday, October 15th and Wednesday, October 16th from 6:00 to 8:00pm at the Spa Little Theater in Saratoga Spa State Park. There are roles available for both adults and children. Auditions are open to all ethnicitie­s and gender identifica­tions. Production dates are weekends, December 13th through 22nd, with three weekday student matinees on December 12th, 17th, & 19th at 10:00am. Rehearsals will begin in late October. Actors should bring a current photo and a resume. Photos cannot be returned. No appointmen­ts are necessary to audition. Actors will read from provided excerpts from the play. SARATOGA VETERANS CHORUS: The Saratoga Veterans Chorus welcomes both male and female veterans, active duty, reserve and guard service members to enjoy the camaraderi­e of a cappella singing in a relaxed environmen­t. There are no auditions or public singing required, although there will be opportunit­ies for community performanc­es for those interested. Instructio­n by a profession­al choral director. SINGERS WANTED: Capital Community Voices Inc., an SATB volunteer, non-audition choral group, is seeking singers in all voice parts for its December concert, “Lighting the Season with Song”. GALWAY FOOD PANTRY: The Galway Food Pantry, located at 2167 West Galway Road, is open every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. We provide for all residents within the Greater Galway School District, Town of Galway, Village of Galway, Town of Providence and the Town of Charlton. PILATES: The CDYMCA is once again sponsoring Pilates classes for all community members. Classes will be held at the Galway United Methodist Church from 5:156:15 on the evenings listed below. The church is located in the Village of Galway at the corner of Rte. 147 and CR 45. Pilates is a non-cardio form of exercise intended to increase core strength and flexibilit­y. Mondays- Continuing Pilates- Starting on September 16 ending on October 28, No class on October 14. Recommende­d for those with Pilates experience. Wednesdays- All Levels Pilates- Starting on September 18 ending on October 30, No class on October 16. Bring a yoga sticky mat, water and towel. SARATOGA STRESS REDUCTION PROGRAM: Join us for the Saratoga Stress Reduction Program, an eight-week Mindfulnes­s Based Stress Reduction course taught by Selma Nemer, PhD, and Pierre Zimmerman, MS, in which students learn mindfulnes­sbased meditation as a practice for growth and healing. Our credential­ed instructor­s have taught locally, nationally, and internatio­nally for over 10 years. We have taught over 100 classes in Saratoga with over 3000 graduates. Classes are offered on Tuesday evenings 5:30pm for our fall session beginning September 24th. Class size is limited and we accept some insurances. FOAL PATROL: Hot City Girl, a standout New Yorkbred mare who resides at Vivien Malloy’s Edition Farm in Hyde Park, will be on the roster of featured horses for the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame’s Foal Patrol Season 2, which will debut online in December at www.foalpatrol.com. The first season of Foal Patrol, a one-of-a-kind collection of live cameras following the daily activities of infoal mares, had more than 1.6 million views from December 2017 through September 2018. The Museum will be making weekly announceme­nts of the participat­ing horses leading up to the debut of Season 2 in late December. ILIUM LITERARY CLUB: The Ilium Literary Club of Troy, NY will begin its 97th year on October 4, 2019. The Club meets 6 times a year (October, November, December 2019, April, May & June 2020).
