SUFFRAGETTE MOVEMENT PRESENTATION: The League of Women Voters of Saratoga County, along with the Saratoga Springs Public Library will present “The Unfinished Work of the Woman’s Suffrage Movement” on Wednesday, October 16th at 7 pm at the Saratoga Springs Library, The program by Sally Roesch Wagner, a nationally recognized lecturer and author of The Women’s Suffrage Movement, is one that gives voice to the unsung women who helped shape the suffrage movement, including African American suffragists who faced racism within the movement, and Iroquois women whose society influenced suffragists. You’ll hear stories of the well-known suffragists, such as Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. African American suffragists like Ida B. Wells and the three Forten sisters. In advance of the 2020 centennial of the 19th amendment, the suffragists’ concerns for equality, social justice and voting rights remain as pertinent today as ever. TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL: The 24th annual Touched by an Angel fundraising event will be held on Thursday, Oct. 17, 6-9 p.m., at Canfield Casino, located in Congress Park in Saratoga Springs. The evening will feature a wide variety of food tastings provided by 18 local restaurants. Guests will be able to sample elegant, savory and sweet food stations, along with appetizers and desserts. Guests will also enjoy complimentary wine, beer, Saratoga Water, and a signature drink. There will be several great raffles. Saratoga Photobooth will be on hand. Music will be provided by Shades of Grey. About 400 guests are expected. Tickets are $80. Proceeds will benefit hospice programs and services in Saratoga and Washington counties, including complementary services, such as music and massage therapy; and the Hospice Wish Fund which grants wishes for patients and families. The day starts with a Fall Farm Festival at 2 PM featuring pony rides, wagon rides, demonstrations and other fun farm activities. The main event, Soupapalooza, starts at 4 PM.
