Fall Festival scheduled for Sunday
SCHUYLERVILLE, N.Y. >> The fourth annual Schuylerville Fall Festival is scheduled for this weekend, featuring a variety of family-friendly fall fun activities.
The event, presented by the Schuylerville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Schuylerville Small Business Association, will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20 on Broad Street and Ferry Street in Schuylerville.
“The Schuylerville Fall Festival was founded four years ago to fuel the Schuylerville Small Business Association’s mission, which is to create the best community in which to live, work and do business by enhancing business collaboration and communication, supporting local entrepreneurs, advocating for our community and promoting positive advances and developments,” said Chelsie Henderson of the Schuylerville Small Business Association. “The Fall Festival is truly a community effort with involvement from many small businesses and entrepreneurs, local non-profits, and the Village and Town. It really highlights Schuylerville’s growing and thriving creative economy!”
The festival kicks off at 11 a.m. with a Costume Bike Parade for children and adults alike, beginning at Champlain Canal Gateway Visitors’ Center, honoring the new stretch of the Empire State Trail.
Immediately following the parade, children can Trick-or-Treat at the Schuylerville Youth Center.
The festival will include a Small Business Scavenger Hunt with over $150 in Schuylerville Gift Certificate prizes available. The Scavenger Hunt begins at 11 a.m. and all entries should be turned in to the Schuylerville Public Library by 4:30 p.m.
The library will also be the location of the Pop Up Farmers’ Market, Touch-A-Truck with vehicles from Wilton EMS and Schuyler Hose Company and a Selfie Station. At 3 p.m. a ribbon cutting ceremony will mark the grand opening of the library’s new Reading Room.
An Artisan Market will be set up in the Artisan Village on the Green, near Amigos on Broad Street, along with performance troupe performances, glassblowing and pottery demonstrations and a Kids Creativity Zone, with a special appearance from The Twisty Balloon Gal from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Live music will be presented all day at the Visitor’s Center Music Tent. The lineup includes Irish folk music by Craic Agus Ceol from 12:15 to 2:15 p.m. and Afro funk music by Oobleck from 3 to 5 p.m. Caricature artist Mark Gregory and additional Artisan Market vendors will be at this site all day as well.
Over at The Bullard Block, an all ages Family Open Mic is set for noon to 2 p.m., followed by a Ukulele Meet Up and Singalong from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. and African Drum & Dance with Sayon Camara from 4 to 5 p.m.
Additionally, there will be lots of special happenings and raffles in the town’s local shops, galleries and restaurants.
