- By Saratogian staff

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. >> Saratoga Springs Police officers on patrol early Sunday morning in the vicinity of Putnam Place, located on Putnam Street in downtown Saratoga Springs, responded when a single gunshot was heard coming from inside the venue.

At about 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10, were in the vicinity of the bar/ live music venue. The venue was starting to empty out when officers outside heard a single gunshot come from inside the venue as it was starting to empty out.

This caused the crowd to exit the establishment en masse. Officers entering Putnam Place were unable to locate a victim or anyone responsible for firing the shot.

Preliminary investigation inside confirmed what the officers’ heard was a gunshot. Numerous interviews were conducted at the scene as the patrons left and the crowd eventually dispersed without any further incidents.

Putnam Place staff also cooperated with officers and investigators in the interview process.

The investigation shows there was some type of physical altercation inside the venue just prior to the shot being fired. Details of that fight are unknown at present.

Surrounding law enforcement agencies and regional hospitals were notified as to a possible shooting victim in the case, but to date any victim has been found.

Investigators are combing through surveillance footage to identify a possible suspect. The nature of the shot being fired should be a cause for public concern, but the Saratoga Springs Police Department’s initial belief is this was an isolated incident.
