Class B announces All-League teams and Division awards

TROY, NY » The Section II, Class B Football committe has officially released their end of the year all-stars and awards for the 2019 season this past week and local talent is at the forefront.

First for the North Division

All-Stars, Glens Falls’ Griffin Woodell was named Player of the Year. Also from Glens Falls was the Offensive Player of the Year, Aalijah Sampson. The Defensive Player of the Year award was split between Schuylervi­lle’s Jack Koval and Glens Falls’ Nick Danahy. The All-Purpose Player of the Year award went to Glens Falls’ David Barcly and the Kicker of the Year was named Scott Teta from Lansingbur­gh.

Player of the Year Woodell is third in the section in total points scored with 166. He has scored 27 touchdowns this season (again, third in the section) while rushing for 914 yards on 87 carries and adding another 80 yards with six catches. 22 of his touch

downs were scored on offense while five were scored on defense.

In regards to the All-Star teams, Schuylervi­lle led all local teams with seven representa­tives including Jack Dwyer and Jacob Vanderhoof. Glens Falls was right behind them with six including Quarterbac­k Noah Girard and Jamal Rawlings. Lansingbur­gh’s Vinny Tario and Izayah Bashford also received recognitio­n.

In the honorable mentions list, Lansingbur­gh quarterbac­k Jacob Lapham is a stand out. Along with Lapham is Glens Falls’ Cooper Montgomery and Schuylervi­lle’s Owen Sherman.

In the Reinfurt Division, Holy Trinity had seven recipients on All-Star teams including Tanner Kiser at linebacker, Rodney Parker at running back, and Adi Quinones, Fred Adrion, and Nick Mendonca on the offensive line. Todd Williamson also received recognitio­n at tight end.

Other Holy Trinity players receiving honorable mention recognitio­n were Nasir Bradley, Alex Belcher, and Logan Cornick.

Holy Trinity also had Quarterbac­k Joe Tortello receive Offensive Player of the Year and Noah Foster earned All-Purpose Player of the Year.

Tortello finished with a Section II leading 2,353 passing yards. He had a 72 percent completion percentage this season and threw 39 touchdown passes. He also added 105 yards on the ground and three touchdowns.

Reinfurt Divison’s Most Valuable Player was Cobleskill’s Hunter Edwards and Defensive Player of the Year was David Leon.
