SARATOGA SPRINGS - Francis William (Bill) Richardson, 72, of Wilton, peacefully passed away at home on Saturday, December 7, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Born August 15, 1947 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the youngest son of the late George Howard and Rita Richardson. Though due to Rita passing at a young age, he came to know Mae Lowry as his only mother. Mr. Richardson served in the U.S. Army, 2nd Brigade, 25th Infantry, the division responsible for establishing the base in Cu Chi, Vietnam. Trained as a mechanic, his principal job while in Vietnam was driving a wrecker. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, quite an accomplishment since he was not trained as an infantry soldier. He was later awarded an Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service. After his service in the Army, Mr. Richardson spent many years as a member of the Mason Local 77. He retired from construction in 2001. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Michael Howard Richardson of Middle Grove. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Donna Place Richardson, and two daughters, Michelle and Heather. His older sister, Patricia Richardson Sadowski, and her husband Vince, and their children are also among Mr. Richardson’s surviving family members.
