- Staff report

GUILDERLAND, N.Y. >> Shoppers heading to Crossgates Mall will now be able to do more shopping with extended holiday hours announced.

Crossgates will be extending hours of operation in the weeks leading up to Christmas Day.

Startin Friday, Dec, 13 the mall will operate under an extended holiday hours schedule, opening at 9 a.m. and closing at 10 p.m. (9 a.m. closing on Sunday, Dec. 15). The final days before Christmas, starting on Friday, Dec. 20, Crossgates will remain open until 11 p.m.

Last-minute shoppers can visit from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24.

The mall will be closed on Christmas Day except of select restaurants and entertainment venues.

Shoppers are also encouraged to help spread the holiday cheer by supporting the many local non-profits that rely on Crossgates’ space, and the friendliness of its shoppers, to successfully run their largest fundraising campaigns of the year! Volunteers from local charities call Crossgates home December as they decorate their tables for the season, all while educating the public and raising muchneeded funds for their cause.

Listed below are some of the organizations helping make their seasons bright:

• The Regional Food Bank, located on the lower level near Apple, partners with local businesses that work and match, dollar-for-dollar, the money raised by shoppers.

• Make-A-Wish, located on the lower level near Dave & Buster’s, is looking for those that are willing to ‘adopt-a-wish’ for six terminally ill, local children.

• Need someone to help wrap your gifts while you take a break from busy holiday shopping? Hadassah Capital District and the American Cancer Society both jump into action the week prior to Christmas, by gift-wrapping presents for shoppers for a small donation.

“As we welcome back our friends from various local charities, some having been a part of the holidays at Crossgates for over 20 years, we look to our shoppers to share in the joy of the holiday season with them. We love being a part of the community,” Marketing Director at Crossgates Jennifer Smith said in a news release.

“And with the generosity of our guests, our Capital Region organizations are more than happy to share their time and excitement with us! We appreciate that these local non-profits return each year as a staple of the community we have built at Crossgates during the holiday season and throughout the year,” Smith added.
