Blue Streaks rout rival Shen, 6-1
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. >> So often during the pre-season or rough starts into a campaign coaches will say “It’s not how you start, its how you finish.”
Saratoga’s ice hockey team along with Shenendehowa put that to the test Wednesday
night as the Plainsmen put their best foot forward in the first period, but it was the Blue Streaks who had the skate on the proverbial throat of its rival at the end of three periods, winning handily, 6-1.
“I think I think Shen was outplaying us in the first period there and our senior goalie really was our leader and it kept us in it, you know, and we needed them,” Saratoga
Springs coach Tim Horst said. “He made some big saves there and kept us in it.
“Then we were able to kind of get a late one there on the power play that kind of changed the tide. But you know, when we needed him Brad Blake was in there and making big saves for us.”
The senior netminder came up with 27 saves on the night
Saratoga Springs forward Will Detora leaves behind a trail of Shenendehowa defenders on his way to the net and a goal in the second period Wednesday night at the Capital Arena in Clifton Park.
