Ski resorts, already off to a good start for the 2019/20 season, are anticipating a brisk holiday skier/snowboard turnout. Planning holiday ski vacations of late has become more popular, especially with major ski companies offering families and ski groups a variety of all-inclusive ski packages. Ski packages can include ski, boots, clothing, meals, lift tickets and lessons. As many skiers have come to know, the convenience factor has its own rewards.

Congratulation to fellow Albany Ski Club member, Clifton Park resident, and former WNYT news anchor, Phil Bayly, whose debut murder mystery novel (Murder on Skis) is now on bookstore shelves and other book outlets. At 358 pages, Bayly’s book is a real page turner, with more twist and turns than a slalom course. The book’s sense of place, in and among the steep and rugged mountains of Montana is presented through the lives of Bayly’s fictional characters at one Grizzly Mountain. This is a multiple murder plot, where a world of ski bums, billionaire ski resort owners, past and present lovers and intricately woven sub plots, move the story toward its exciting and surprising conclusion. It would make a great Christmas gift for skiers.

Maple Ski Ridge in Schenectady is now open for the season. Countless area skiers honed their skiing skills at Maple which provides day and night skiing. Maple is a magnet for area school groups.

Additional information in from Ski Butlers Founder, Bryn Carey, says his ski rental and delivery service now extends to “Fifty resorts globally with the addition of expansion to Italy that includes Cortina d’ Ampezzo and Val di Fassa in the Italian Dolomites.

“Skiing the Dolomites is an unparalleled experience,” Bryn adds. “You obvious have the incredible backdrop of jagged peaks, along with fantastic steep skiing, but you also have culinary and cultural experience that comes with the region. Similar to how we operate in France, we have carefully partnered with two premier ski rental delivery companies. Snow Services in Cortina and Val di Fassa Ski Rental Delivery in Val di Fassa”
