GRAND OPENING
Plato’s Closet celebrates recent ribbon cutting
CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. >> Plato’s Closet recently celebrated its ribbon cutting as the last one from the Southern Saratoga Chamber of Commerce.
Plato’s Closet opened its doors in December of 2017. The store is co-run by the family team of Rhonda McMaster-Allendorph, her daughter Mehgan McMaster, and her husband Glenn Allendorph. It is a resale-retail store that offers name-brand clothing at a fraction of the price, currently employing 26 workers.
Plato’s Closet has men and women’s wear in a variety of styles, as well as teen-trending clothing. Its sister store in Clifton Park Center, Style Encore, focuses on women’s professional wear.
In addition to selling clothing and accessories, both stores accept sales of gently used, current style name brand clothes. They will pay cash on the spot for clothing that is in good condition, freshly laundered, and neatly organized.
At the ribbon cutting, the store received a citation from Senator James Tedisco, who complimented the store’s layout and the hard work that was put into the business’s success.
Plato’s closet was also congratulated by representatives of Assemblywoman

Mary Beth Walsh and the Southern Saratoga Chamber Ambassadors.
Pete Bardunias, the president of the Southern Saratoga County Chamber until next year when it merges with other local chambers to become the Capital Region Chamber, congratulated Plato’s Closet.
“This is the last ribbon cutting we get to do as the Southern Saratoga Chamber,” he said. “It’s the last red ribbon we’ll use.”
Despite the upcoming merge, many things about the Chamber will stay the same. The staff will all still be there, the Ambassadors of Southern Saratoga County will still be there to welcome and support new small businesses, and ribbon cutting ceremonies will still take place - with a green ribbon instead of a red one.
“As a regional chamber, we’re going to have the opportunity to connect with an awful lot more people. This will get your company more visibility,” Bardunias said to Rhonda.
“It’s great that we have the chambers of commerce to fight for you,” commented Tedisco. “And there isn’t a better fighter, a better advocate than Peter.”
